Republican Steve Pearce is touting as good news a weeks-old survey that shows him trailing Democrat Tom Udall by 8 percentage points, an upbeat assessment that differs significantly from other polls that show the 2nd District congressman trailing badly in the U.S. Senate race.

Here is how Congressman Pearce sees the record $482 billion Federal deficit: "That sounds like a lot of money, but the amount of debt is really quite low, If you look at the overall budget, the debt is not a fearful thing to me. In business, I recognize I will occasionally go into debt." This is a ridiculous statement.
Plus the Zogby polling is controversial. Numerous Zogby Polls for various special interests have relied on creative phrasing to give the impression of wide public support for the view that the given client is promoting. I sure that is how Pearce has gained in the polls.
