  • One matter of concern not covered in this excellent article is the threat to title insurance reform posed by the upcoming election in District 3, where the Democrats' legacy candidate, Jerome Block, Jr., has worked for a title insurance company for years. Rick Lass, on the other hand, has worked to support local businesses, worked to repeal taxes on food and medical care, and helped to pass seven good governance amendments to the Santa Fe city charter. Block, on the other hand, seems incapable of making any public statement that is not misleading, and has no qualifications other than being the offspring of past PRC commissioners. I hope the Independent will be covering this important race and the threat inherent in the choice to be made, not just for title insurance reform, but for all the regulatory functions that require more than good genes to address.
