Which tends to be racist, sexist, self-gratifying, or even just downright unintelligible.

Or all of that at once, in the case of Dan Foley columns.
.
.
.
.

Re: Thanks Martha Stirman, a.k.a ignorant Otero County lady

Well stated, and well-written.

I read Ms. Stirman's article and was duly unimpressed. Seems to be the ten thousandth entry in an encyclopedia of statements by Republican party leaders across the nation that only serves to act as a tome chronicling the party's demise. The republican party at-large had shown itself to be concerned only with trifling and unintelligible arguments resulting from latent racism and knee-jerk "gut" feelings, arguments lacking in any sort of factual or otherwise reasonable basis. I consider myself a fiscal conservative, but will never again be a card-carrying member of the Republican party due to their shameless statements, vile and unbecoming smear campaigns, and willingness to compromise capacity to lead for mass-appeal to the fundamentalist, religious base.

The Christian fundamentalism that informs much of the republican party's backlash and racism towards Blacks and Muslims is no different or less toxic than the fundamentalist Islam that seeks to undo our nation. One is attempting to do so from the outside, the other (in its aggressive and reactionary willingness to react to culture war rather than dialogue) threatening to undo us from within.

Re: Thanks Martha Stirman, a.k.a ignorant Otero County lady

Too bad that Marcia Stirman's mother never had such a conversation (or, if she did, Marcia clearly didn't listen to her mother).
