Taos wind farm hits turbulence

  • What no one has mentioned yet is that the proposed sites lie smack in the middle of the the national conservation area that Senator Bingaman and the Wilderness Alliance have been working towards for so long. I feel that Taos Wind Power has tried to jump start the permit process for their energy development projects before Congress gets to vote on the conservation legislation. Their wind farm sites adjoin state and BLM land, and would have major development/industrial zoning if the Taos County planning commission moves forward. I propose that Taos County wait until Congress decides whether or not to make northern Taos County a conservation area before approving industrial and energy development projects in that area.
