I'm sorry, but it sounds to me like the police were making it very clear that she, along with the cameraman and everybody else, was to stay over on the sidewalk, behind the line, or she would be arrested. She crossed the line, would not listen to them, and tried to push her way past the officers.
I don't care who you are or what kind of pass you have - if the police tell you (or are trying to tell you but you won't listen) not to cross a line, and you do, then they should detain you.
There is a proper way to inquire as to why someone was arrested and what needs to be done for them to be released - trying to push your way through a line of riot police is not it!
Just because you are a reporter (even one with floor access), that does not mean that you can go wherever you want. Hopefully, Amy Goodman has learned that she, too, is under the law.
