Jesus came to earth to bring peace and compassion toward all humans not division. In fact he stepped in to stop the stoning of a women that was being "judged" by her fellow man as a "sinner". I am a born again christian but I refuse to be identified with this intolerance, and am ashamed that my fellow christians have stooped to following this denomic stand against people that have just as much right to their choice as anyone else. I think that the United States government should repeal the tax-exempt status of all churches. And I think that these people should look in the mirror and remove the "mote from their own eyes"!

I am signing this with my real name as I am not ashamed to stand with my fellow man against intolerance!

Sue Keller
Artesia, New Mexico

Re: Rio Rancho Pastor From the Pulpit: Vote for McCain, Pearce, East

Thank you that someone has the guts to stand up for what's right. The question is, "Who would Jesus vote for?" I don't think it would be anyone who supports abortion. I pray that the Lord protects you and your church.

Re: Rio Rancho Pastor From the Pulpit: Vote for McCain, Pearce, East

Vey, very sad. Separation of church and state is probably one of the most important lessons we learned from the british when we founded this country. God is not a republican and anyone who thinks God supports a conservative agenda only uses christianity to support their own narrow ideology. Truly, what would Jesus do?

What do you call a guy with long hair walking around in sandels who comforts the poor? A republican would call him a hippy. I call him Jesus.

Re: Rio Rancho Pastor From the Pulpit: Vote for McCain, Pearce, East

Here is what he really said....... This means that liberal pastors can do this too! Go Father Brian! Go Mother Sandra! The only thing is, they would never tell their congregants who to vote for because their congregants are smart enough to think for themselves.

Re: Rio Rancho Pastor From the Pulpit: Vote for McCain, Pearce, East

Pastor Robert Hall is one of those religious zealots, who is pushing creationism down the throats of his congregation. Now God has spoken to him that New Mexico should support a bunch of two-bit politicians. The Founding Fathers were for the separation of church and state because they wanted religious toleration for all beliefs.

Re: Rio Rancho Pastor From the Pulpit: Vote for McCain, Pearce, East

I didn't realize God took sides in Political campaigns.

Re: Rio Rancho Pastor From the Pulpit: Vote for McCain, Pearce, East

This national strategy to intimidate the IRS and to flaunt the lack of separation between church and state is appalling. I hope every single one of these churches loses its tax-exempt status and is disciplined.

It's the same disregard for the law of the land that President Bush and his cohorts have exhibited vis a vis the Constitution and it has to stop or we'll descend into something akin to Sharia law before long.

Re: Rio Rancho Pastor From the Pulpit: Vote for McCain, Pearce, East

I wonder if he realizes that he just alienated half his congregation?

Re: Rio Rancho Pastor From the Pulpit: Vote for McCain, Pearce, East

Sad. Churches used to be inclusive and accepting. Now they're just as hateful as many Republicans.
