Not only is cycling a great cardiovascular activity it also keeps our air clean. Cycling does not emit particulate matter and ozone, which have been linked to asthma and respiratory illnesses. It does not emit carbon either and helps reduce your carbon footprint in a world where climate change is a growing concern.
And last but not least, cycling encourages consumers to support businesses near their homes and work places by offering them an more intimate, connected view of their neighborhood as well as attracting young professionals who value innovative and green communities.
For all of these reasons, our governments need to vastly expand and improve our bicycle and transit infrastructure. Driver's Ed must prepare our young people to be mobile in the 21st Century where gas supply is limited. BikeABQ is working towards both of these goals - we'd love to to join us and/or support us. www.bikeabq.org
