Mr. Attorney General, where are the results of the Housing Authority investigation

Started by nmindependent · 7 months ago

I was looking at a posting the other day that talked about ethics and the need for ethics reform in New Mexico. The article talked about former State Sen. Manny Aragon and the recently defeated Senate Republican Whip Lee Rawson. What I was shocked to see missing was any real discussion about the New ... Continue reading »

  • I formally worked for section 8 housing and witnessed alot of waste,
greed and theft. I had hoped when our govenor replaced the local board of directors it would get better, evidently not. The thing with these boards, they can only operate with the information given by the supervisor of the sec. 8 authority, therefore, alot of things can be carried out that are not honest. This is a very important government department and should be monotored more closely.

  • I appreciate your comments. We have moved the oversight to the NM Mortgage Finance Authority and still need more control and there are those who continue to fight getting more control and oversight, I am not sure why but they are. We also need to ask the State Investment Council why and how this happend they had a role in watching this before they allowed them to even get these bond dollars.

I am shocked at how little the response is from the "usual" crowd, i guess it is tough for even them to defend the actions of their fellow Democrats, but I must say seems to be a pattern here amongst Democrats in NM?????????????
  • It's human nature to want to cover your ass no matter
    what affiliation you are.

I think the Bush administration, (and or congress for
allowing it) has set a bad example by ignoring
subpoenas. This has instilled a disregard for the
    rule of law everywhere.

  • I am in no way defending President Bush I believe he has made some real bad decisions. I will say though believing in a separation of powers and executive privilege is a lot different then taking money from needy families to feed your own greed! The usual folks who want to attack the President and or Republicans here every chance they get seem to be silent on this issue and that speaks volumes of their integrity.
  • And what does this have to do with the Attorney
    General investigating Section 8-Housing Authority?

  • donavon you brought up the President, I was just stating I didn't agree with him and was not afraid to say so. Unlike the many Democrats who get on here and talk trash and attack me and Republicans, they are silent on this issue and the many other issues.

I am just pointing out just about every problem with ethics in this state has a Democrat involved and nobody wants to talk about that. The Democrats have had every office from Gov to SOS the Legislature to the AG and nobody will do anything about this. If the Democrats in NM cared, truley cared, about fixing this problem they would. Instead they look the other way and allow these actions to continue without trying to fix it, or allow someone else to fix it. This is exactly why we are the laughing stock of the rest of the country.
  • You are right, I did mention the president and
congress regarding the fact that they are not
enforcing the law/constitution. Sorry, had a long day
yesterday was kinda brain-dead when I emailed you,
should have waited until this am.

Anyway, point is, the US AG should investigate the HA,
if he hasn't already, and if so, why doesn't he
present his findings? This should not have anything
to do with Repb or Dem. I am kinda getting tired or
the division within the Congress and now the division
within the country itself. Can't we just get along?

  • Where is the Attorney General's investigation of Dan Foley? Talk about a hypocrite. Foley ued his office to procure state insurance contracts? People can read about it online at the Roswell Daily Record website. General King - the Foley State Insurance Scandal is what we all really need to read about!
