  • Again I'll write . . . Snyder has run one of the ugliest campaigns I've ever seen. I hope it doesn't serve her well. I'd like to see a new era, one when politicians spend more time talking about what they'll do to improve conditions and represent ALL of their constituents than throwing nastiness at their competitor.

I think this positive approach has been more in evidence with Eichenberg and it's going to pay off tomorrow.
  • I hope there are some surprises. The last time that a single party won "the whole enchilada" was in the Reagan years, and before that with LBJ's sweep in 1964. For the democratic system to work, there must be some king of balance between ideologies to prevent the passage of really stupid laws.

This enthusiasm for all one party to sweep it all is dangerous and has led to problems for years afterward. Remember De Tocqueville's concern about "the tyranny of the majority" in a democracy. I'm already seeing signs of it. Anyone who expresses a view different that the "conventional wisdom" of the day is verbally beaten down in the new media.

If the Dems sweep everything tomorrow, will they represent those who are NOT on the far left too?
