The New Mexico Independent: Leaner special session

    Our state legislators need a salary. We are the only state in the whole country that does not give a salary to its state legislators. New Mexico is in the dark ages! Here is the salary for legislators from nearby states: Arizona - $24,000; Texas - $7,200; Colorado - $30,000; Oklahoma - $$38,400; Nevada - $137.90 per day. This is a disgrace. If we have a session we should approve some salary so we can get competent legislators that do not cater to lobbyists for under the table money. Let's reform now!

    If the special session is so important to Governor Richardson why is traveling to Illinois and California. He should be in his Fourth Floor office. This is crazy. I guess the VP job is more important. If I was a state legislator I would be real upset and say NO to a special session!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
