And just in one message.

Now I can understand how people would make assumptions about others, given a lack of information, but I think I'm too broke to be elitist, being one paycheck away from bankruptcy these days.

I'm not too jaded with the political process to hope that conventional candidates I support will change America for the better, and I certainly trust corporations much less than the US government and have for a long time. I've worked for them and relying on them to do anything for the common good is laughable. So call me a socialist rather than a corporatist, because I believe in the ultimate power of the people to change the country for the good. My faith in Wal Mart to expand the social good in the US? Not so much!

And if it helps your blood pressure any, I too would love to see more acceptance of more parties besides the GOP and the Dems, more competition in the political market.

From what I've seen, the only way to open our political process to multiple parties is to get instant-runoff elections. Give everyone the chance to rank their vote (#1 Green, #2 GOP, #3 Nihilist) for a Libertarian, Green, Bull Moose, or Nihilist candidate but then if that candidate loses, their second choice candidate vote is activated. And so on down their list. (check out instant-runoff voting in Wikipedia for more details)

This system - which is a lot simpler than it sounds - is in place in a few countries around the world and municipalities in the US. It encourages new ideas and new candidates to enter the political process without having to work their way through the two main parties' systems. Have you read about this? You can't throw the bums out without a plan and instant runoff voting is a decent plan, I think.

The two parties have had a stranglehold on the American population too long, and it seems like a two-way race to the bottom. I agree with you, TJ, godblessya. We should be opening our political process to more not less influence of the people. More Democracy, not less!

Re: Lawman’s background hasn’t lifted White in CD1

Because I am not a reporter for a supposed "Independent" news source. The point being that if you wanted to be viewed a legitimate news page maybe some balance would be in order a month before the election, but hey this is a Soros page, thats probably too much to ask. As a Declined to State, I believe that everysheeple in this country is mislead by partisan rhetoric. You are all so biased and partisan you don't have an independent idea among the whole lot of you.

OH and Jeeter if it weren't for originalism, Marbury v. Madison could not stand. Because without the originalism there can be no Constitutionally limited govt. and therein no judicial review.

So lets hear some more of you partisan rhetoric.....Tell me why Bush being a screw-up entitles you to be a socialist partisan hack that tramples the very nature of our Constitutional government by expanding entitlements and taxation. Tell me why Bush being a moron entitles congressional democrats to receive large sums from the very financial firms that have destroyed our economy and then bail them out.

Come on, cause I want to hear more of why the fact the failings of a corrupt GOP party entitle, no require, the American people to instead voting for a the tried and failed corrupt Democrat party. Why should the American people have to choose from either of your failed parties. I hope with all my heart that the American people will soon wake up and toss all you partisan bums out. I can't stand corrupt hypocritical neo-con GOP'ers anymore than I stomach elitist hyprocritical corrupt democrats like yourself. And if the independent had any scruples or a sense of fair play they would be showing us how both candidates in CD-1 are piss poor choices, instead of clearly endorsing one piss poor candidate over the other while claiming impartiality in their reporting.

Toss all the Republicans and Democrats out, don't vote for either party.

Have a nice day!

Re: Lawman’s background hasn’t lifted White in CD1

From Joel Gay: Thanks to Jbaca for pointing out Nick Bakas' correct title, director of the city Aviation Department. On the question of Darren White's highest rank at APD, I asked the White campaign for that information last week and never got a response.

Re: Lawman’s background hasn’t lifted White in CD1

Bakas is not police chief at the airport. He is the airport manager. Also, you might check the statement that White was an APD Sergeant.

Re: Lawman’s background hasn’t lifted White in CD1

I think New Mexicans are tired of people like White. You sound fairly knowledgeable about the subject.

I mean, if Dan Foley's only semi-readable "columns" are accepted by the NM Independent, they will probably not refuse anything.

Re: Lawman’s background hasn’t lifted White in CD1

How about a hit piece on all the junk heinrich has pulled.
