To sin tax or not to sin tax
There was a pretty decent oil crisis in the 60's and the 70's also.
Perhaps the incline Up in oil prices themselves, Coupled to the "higher oil prices for muslims" stated goal of Al Quaida at that time ( say 2000 ) was a pretty decent indicator of things to come.
Since the war itself sucks up right at 8% ( all sides, all locations ) of total global oil supplies and has been doing so for 6 years now...heck there are no real suprises on oil prices.
Interesting re:, the usa, that with any mention of ANWAR, everyone goes ballistic.
Perhaps many fail to see that the mention of such has been used as an attention flanking maneauveer. Mention it, then open every every square inch of everything else on Fed Lands and drill those instead.
Finding more oil or cheaper oil is not the answer. Alternatives are.
Places like the USA are far enough behind the 8 ball now on oil, the smart move is alternatives, even if it takes a while.
In the meantime there's nothing that says the economy has to go fast ( that's the excuse we hear when we talk using less fossil fuels ).
Perhaps a slower moving system while developing alternatives on a PAID for basis is more prudent.
