People do not have all the facts but as you know the Spanish are known as the European white explorers and they did come to conquer and they did just that and then lost and then conquered again. So please read your history before you post comments you are showing your ignorance.

i hate to say this but the commissoner is right in a broad brush stroke statement. As I am hispanic and my family is a large NM type of family. We know we are family when we meet each other at weddings, furnerals, or baptismals, it is true, But anyway must of the hispanics I have spoken to as I am a political nutball and always asking family and friends to vote and registar to vote and most always I get that they are not voting for that either the N word or black so and so. So yeah een though the commissionr got into trouble for not being PC he was being accurate in a broad sense of the way. Most Hispanic are vry protective of thier feelings and their ways views about dealing with black people. I know my mother for instance will never ever vote for a black person, aand the same goes for all hr siblings.

Sorry to commenting so late on this, but I am black, I have lived in New Mexico for 32 years and I have found my Hispanic brothers and sisters to be very kind and very open. Its a shame that people continue to be so stupid. I sure Fernando C. de Baca feels his remarks were taken out of context, but these types
of remarks are usually a reflection of a person true feelings. You should have chose your words more carefully. Stand behind your comment, if that's how you feel after all its America.

As a Mexican American resident, I now understand why Northern NM Hispanics have had such poor leadership that they remain poor, badly educated, lacking adequate health care and isolated...and at the mercy of the nuclear industry (LANL) and the Santa Fe tourist-based economy. With leaders as ignorant, arrogant and
clueless as F. de Baca, they are unlikely to progress. It's definitely time for a change of leaders!

Fernando C de Baca Is talking just like a Republican and he has the mindset of a Republican. There are no doubts that some undecided, Independents and even some Democrats who will not vote for Obama because he is Black, but and it is a big but, there are no more Latinos who are racist than any other group.

I can't say that for the Republicans as a whole. I bet that there are more racists registered as Republicans than there are racists registered as Democrats. The Republicans court them. They may also court Latino racists too.

i think personal 'self interests' such as healthcare and the economy are more important to the voters of New Mexico than the coloe of the candidate's skin. Just my humble opinion
