  • The DDG-1000 is still being built, except that 2-8 only will make it under current plans. But you're right, something else appears to be going on. I don't buy that the Navy can't manage a complex weapon system. A modern carrier or new ballistic missile sub are easily as complex, if not more. Hard to say if its just the CNO going retro. Time will tell.

    Sorta reminds me of when President Carter cancelled the B1A program in the late '80s. What he didn't mention at the time, of course, was that the B2 was well along in development. Reagan later restored the B1 as the B1B with lower aero capability, but with the terrain following radar. Although not newsworthy these days, it is still very much in use.
