The New Mexico Independent: $8.5 trillion makes it a ‘Great Recession’ instead of a Great Depression

    My wife, Lissa, has been repeatedly asking for numerical translation in cases like this, prompting a new blog comment feature, which I launch here: What's in a trillion? By my calculation, Lissa's share of $8.5 trillion is roughly $28,000. (That is, if you divide the entire amount by the US population, that's what you get.) I encourage other commenters to offer their own useful translations into numerical terms - like how many F16s or new high schools there are in $8.5 trillion, that sort of thing.
